The Arachnid
(word count: 196)
The wind whips throughout my frame. My empty spaces whistle in the cool autumn air. Whoosh, swish, rattle, chatter. My bones soak in the fading fall dusk. There’s a chilly breeze, and then…a shiver travels up my spine.
Something crawls over my metacarpals. Skitter skatter. My humerus tickles; my scaphoid tingles.
Something scurries around my ilium. Tiny little legs, wispy little feet. Delicate, yet dangerous.
Back and forth, it’s on my femur now.
Ugh! Get off!
It slinks past my patella…tiptoes across my phalanges. I kick, I fling, I shake. Yuck!
The thing scrambles up my vertebrae. Up, down, and around.
It lingers on my mandible. Chomp! Drat! Missed it! I feel a creeping across my scapula.
The pest scampers, darts, torturing my tibia, frazzling my fibula.
Clank! Chatter, crack! Try as I might, I can’t throw it off!
It’s on my incisors now! Bite! Crunch! Agh! I grind my molars with no success. The thing crawls across my palatine. How do I get it out?! Oh! Please! How do I get it out!?!
Uurrgghh! What agony! Rittle rattle!
Get out of my head! Get out of my skull! Get out get out get out!!!
AAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!!!
